Summary

Two Point Seven Facades Ltd provided the full turn-key package.  We performed the design, manufacture and installation of  genuine COR-TEN® A planters which would contain 100,000 individual flowers.  Our client confirmed that they would be counted to ensure they hadn't been short changed.  COR-TEN® also goes by CORTEN and Weathering Steel.

The primary function as to reduce light spill from the new dwelling.  The land which was being built on belonged South Downs National Park, a conservation area, such that, to meet the requirements of the 'Dark Night Skies' policy applied to this area, the environment surrounding the site required adequate protection from light pollution produced by the building.

Building Description

A new four bedroom dwelling, complete with open plan living, kitchen and dinning spaces.  The dwelling boast a large 10 acre garden, with a courtyard containing a variety of planters with an array of plants in vast quantities, exceeding 100,000 plants.  The theme of the local area was maintained by cladding the building completely in Siberian Larch, shipped from Europe, and a standing seam zinc clad roof. 

External Works

Two Point Seven Facades Ltd specified the use of a 145mm extruded aluminium elliptical aerofoil.  The aerofoil was connected to an extruded aluminium box section directly fixed to soffit and aluminium pressing.  Box section carrying aerofoils using an aluminium winged end-plate providing solar shading to the large glass façade.

Since S16E07 of Grand Designs was aired, televising the development of the 'Lewes Rusty Metal House', COR-TEN® A has been at the forefront of modern bespoke housing design.  Two Point Seven Facades Ltd uses only Genuine COR-TEN® A available as a duel certified S355 J2W+N with CE test certificates.  From COR-TEN® A we manufactured:

· 3 Nr COR-TEN® A Planters @ 2750mm x 2250mm

· 6 Nr COR-TEN® A Planters @ 1200mm in diameter.
